Charred Broccoli

Our fridge is dying a slow death, so I haven’t been thinking much about meal preparation, aside from what is still edible from the refrigerator and what we can cook from the freezer.

So we’re cleaning house. Tonight we had pan fried fish (frozen barramundi), braised leeks (more than a week old and shriveling) and potatoes (not refrigerated but growing eyes), and charred broccoli (getting limp).

While everything was good, and maybe even better for using things on the brink of becoming garbage, the broccoli was a stand-out.

I tossed broccoli spears in a little olive oil, a few dashes of balsamic vinegar, sprinkles of salt and pepper. Roasted at 375F for about 10 minutes, until it looks good to you!
