Earlier in the week, Mark was out late and wasn’t home for dinner. I was just going to make a box of macaroni and cheese (have I mentioned that dairy is no longer a problem for C? And that he loves it in all forms) and a can of beans or something, but then I decided to save the mac and cheese for a day when I’m really hard up. So I made this instead.
Again I’ve been forgetting to take pictures of what we’ve been eating. Tonight I remembered, after we had already eaten. But here are the leftovers:
I was on a roll the other day and made two children’s book-inspired dishes before 11 a.m. The first was green eggs and ham, and then Mickey cake, from Maurice Sendak’s In the Night Kitchen. C’s been really into this book lately, he thinks it’s hilarious and has started saying “cake.”
Like many children, C likes the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham. He’s not as crazy about it as he used to be (we no longer read it 3+ times per day), but he still likes it, and I think he’s at the age now where he can appreciate something like green eggs for breakfast.
I’ve had my eye on Dutch babies (or German pancakes) for a while now, but they seemed like a lot of work compared to the homemade pancake mix I keep on hand. But I took the plunge this weekend.
I thought I had already posted about my oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, but it doesn’t seem like I have. And I’m not going to! Okay, maybe I will someday. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are my signature dessert and I’m not ready to share just yet. But oatmeal double chocolate cookies are another matter (and closely related, you could probably figure out the one from the other).
