I will get a second serving along with dessert. So I tried <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simplyrecipes.com\/recipes\/jamaican_rice_and_peas\/ \">this recipe<\/a>, with some modifications. It wasn&#8217;t BAD, but definitely not the way I wanted. And since I made it, I think it might be on of those things that&#8217;s better left to special occasions, like potlucks when someone else cooks.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"P1050971 by leighadactyl, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/leighadactyl\/15100440774\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3944\/15100440774_b27cb00146.jpg\" alt=\"black bean chorizo burger\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had been thinking about <a href=\"http:\/\/fabtasticeats.com\/2014\/01\/17\/spicy-chorizo-black-bean-burgers\/\">these chorizo black bean burgers<\/a> for a while. I made them with some leftover chorizo (from what, I can&#8217;t remember) and a can of black beans. The flavor was good, maybe a little too rich, and they were too crumbly, falling apart in the pan and in the bun. I think they could use some egg, maybe more breadcrumbs. The picture above is C&#8217;s plate, with the melted cheese picked off the bun.<\/p>\n<p>Ma po tofu is one of my fave &#8220;Chinese restaurant&#8221; dishes. I was attracted to <a href=\"http:\/\/cooking.nytimes.com\/recipes\/7152-ma-po-tofu-simmered-tofu-with-ground-pork\">this recipe<\/a> because it&#8217;s so simple. But maybe it&#8217;s TOO simple. It could definitely use something, I think I read a recipe that included oyster sauce?
