We have an advent calendar and try to do a different holiday activity each day. Today: Christmas Cookies!<\/p>\n<p>I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inkatrinaskitchen.com\/2011\/12\/best-sugar-cookie-recipe-and-kitchenaid_28.html\">this recipe<\/a> because it doesn&#8217;t require chilling the dough. This is a big plus when making with kids because there&#8217;s not really any down time (besides the baking). I used salted butter and added some salt (maybe 1\/4 or 1\/2 tsp) and then was paranoid they were going to be too salty, but they turned out just great. I also added zest of one lemon instead of almond extract.<\/p>\n<p>I kid-prepped the recipe by creaming the butter and (in a separate bowl) mixing the dry ingredients.
