Christmas Cookies!

Christmastime is here!

I can’t recall ever being a big fan of the season, but now that we have kids it’s more fun. We have an advent calendar and try to do a different holiday activity each day. Today: Christmas Cookies!

I used this recipe because it doesn’t require chilling the dough. This is a big plus when making with kids because there’s not really any down time (besides the baking). I used salted butter and added some salt (maybe 1/4 or 1/2 tsp) and then was paranoid they were going to be too salty, but they turned out just great. I also added zest of one lemon instead of almond extract.

I kid-prepped the recipe by creaming the butter and (in a separate bowl) mixing the dry ingredients. But C was able to help in every other step, mixing, rolling, cutting, icing and of course, tasting.
