Food

We bought these steaks from a guy on the side of the road.

raw ribeye

I’m not going to say it wasn’t sketchy. Fast talker calling out to us as we walked home Saturday afternoon.

Mark made dinner: grilled ribeye and asparagus, baked potatoes. Mark seasoned the meat several hours before grilling, with plenty of salt and pepper.

The steak was really good, if a little salty. Next time (and we have three more of these in the freezer) we’re going to cautiously salt just before cooking.

And for dessert:

mini chocolate cake

Flourless Chocolate Cake for Two
Adapted from SheKnows
Total time: 25 minutes
Servings: 2

2.5 ounces dark chocolate (I used Tcho* dark couverture discs, 66% or 68% or something)
3 Tbsp salted butter
2 Tbsp sugar
1 T cocoa powder
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease two 4-ounce ovenproof containers (I use little canning jars) with butter or oil. Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Stir in sugar, cocoa powder and egg. Pour batter into containers, place on baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, or until top is firm. You probably want the center to still be gooey.

Top with fresh fruit, whipped cream, sliced almonds or something else delicious.

*There are some definite benefits to living in San Francisco. Chocolate is one of them, another is bread.
